Invited Lecturer at University College London (May 2022)

  • Designed and co-led a group session for the Ethnicity, Migration, and Health module offered by the Institute of Epidemiology & Health Care for MSc students. Module leader: Dr Milagros Ruiz. 

Invited Lecturer at UFSC (2020)

  • Co-led a session on racial inequities in oral health to a group of health care professionals registered in the Multiprofessional Residency in Family Health. Module leader: Prof Daniela Carcereri

Invited Lecturer at University College London (May 2020)

  • Designed and co-led a group session for the Ethnicity, Migration, and Health module offered by the Institute of Epidemiology & Health Care for MSc students. Module leader: Dr Milagros Ruiz. 

 

Teaching Assistant for Q-step programme at University College London (Sept 2018 - Dez 2018)

  • Led one-hour practical sessions using R for three groups of students every week for the course entitled Advanced Topics in Data Science (students were: BA Geography, BSc Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE), BSc Population Health, BSc in Social Sciences).

  • Topics covered: 1) descriptive data reduction techniques, 2) generalised latent variable modelling/ Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), 3) Missing data analysis.

  • Worked under the supervision of Dr Maria Sironi and Dr James Cheshire​

Teaching Assistant at University College London (Dpt Epidemiology and Public Health) (Oct - Nov 2018)

  • A 9-weeks course on Basic statistics for medical sciences for MSc Population health students

  • Seminar leader for the following computer session using Stata: analysis of categorical data, mean and analysis of continuous variables, non-parametric tests, Mantel-Haenszel analysis, linear regression. I also assisted the main tutor in a practical session to introduce Stata, and standardization and standardized means.

Workshop leader in the Institute of Neurology at UCL (Oct 2018)

  • A 2-hour workshop on Statistics with Stata for MSc students

  • Led the practical session on introduction to Stata, summarising & displaying data, comparing groups (continuous & categorical variables), and non-parametric tests.

  • Worked under the supervision of Dr Saiful Islam

  • Assisted the main tutor and taught practical sessions using R, Stata, and SPSS on Linear, Logistic, Poisson regression, and survival analysis for a 6-weeks course entitled Research Methods for Quantitative Data. Students were PhD students registered at UCL.

  • Led one-hour practical sessions using R for two groups of UCL students every week for the course entitled Data analysis (students were: BA Geography, BSc Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE), BSc Population Health, BSc in Social Sciences).

  • Topics covered: 1) Multiple regression, 2) further techniques in linear regression, 3) sampling and non-response, 4) Item non-response and imputation methods, 5) geographic data and methods, 6) measures of spatial autocorrelation, 7) geographically weighted regression and multi-level, 8) spatial detection of clusters, 9) advanced R, 10) Multilevel analysis

  • One-year specialisation in Primary health care (UNASUS-PROVAB)

  • Taught over 30 healthcare professionals about the Brazilian health system (SUS) and topics related to public health (Social Sciences, Epidemiology, and Policy).

Teaching Internship in the Department of Public Health UFSC/Brazil (2012 - 2014)

  • Epidemiology and biostatistics course for 2nd-year Dentistry students.

  • Gave three lecturers (every six months) on introduction to sampling, normal distribution, confidence interval; hypothesis test; types of variables, data organisation, graphical presentation, measures of central tendency and dispersion.

  • Accompanied the students in their field activities at healthcare centres, in order for them to apply pre-established questionnaires.

  • Assisted the main lecturer on administrative work, planning and marking essays and assignments, and assisted other lecturers in their activities

  • Worked under the supervision of Dr João Luiz Bastos

 

Supervisor of tutors in an online course sponsored by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice (2013)

  • Five-months course focus to teaching community leaders and the general public about the Brazilian national drug prevention programme.

  • Taught to 15 tutors, each responsible for 100 students,  about the public policies on drug prevention, and how to connect and teach students via an online platform.

Teaching Internship in the Department of Public Health UFSC/Brazil (2012)

  • A six-month course for 3rd-year Dentistry students.

  • Taught practical sessions on how to write and present a report on their experience with the public health care system.

  • Accompanied the students in their field activities at targeted neighbourhoods.

  • Assisted the main lecturer on administrative work.

  • Worked under the supervision of Prof. Marco Aurélio Peres
